The Department of Environmental Planning at the Faculty of Urban Planning – University of Kufa held a scientific workshop on Tuesday, corresponding to 11/4/2023, entitled (Towards a sustainable and livable urban environment), which included the following topics:
The first axis: (Innovation in green buildings is a tool to activate the quality of life and urban comfort) lectured by the teacher (M. M. Amal Taher Hussain)
During the seminar, I touched on defining the concept of innovation and how to apply it to new or existing buildings, while presenting a set of experiences for cities in applying the concept of innovation to improve the quality of life and achieve the highest level of urban comfort.
The second axis: (the environmental footprint of urban transport) was attended by the lecturer (M. M. Hassan Najeh Abdel-Amir)
The seminar dealt with the definition of the concept of the environmental footprint and the main indicators for extracting the footprint of environmental cities, especially the carbon footprint of all modes of urban transport, in addition to presenting a set of maps of the city of Najaf for the period between 2006 to 2023, showing the size of the difference in the decrease in the quantities of green areas and their percentage within land uses and their impact on increasing the amount of green areas. The environmental footprint of Al-Najaf Governorate and Iraq in general.
The workshop was attended by a group of professors, employees and students of the Faculty .
